MOON NUKE PLANS RELEASED
It's hard to believe, but in 1958 the U.S. Air Force requested a plan
from scientists on the effects detonating a nuclear bomb on the moon -
to symbolize American strength in light of recent Russian space advances.
Fortunately, the plan was never carried out: our moon remains a nuclear
free zone. And the US went on to develop other ways to demonstrate its
capabilities in space.
